I'm a huge movie fan!  My favorite kind is thriller/suspense, but I really like anything as long as it's interesting.

Favorite Directors and Writers

John Carpenter is my favorite director. You’re probably thinking that’s weird, but that’s ok – I never guaranteed any degree of normalness. Anyhow, I like him because he’s incredibly diverse and versatile. He’s done romance, comedies, drama, etc, and done them all well. Of course, he’s also known as the Master of Suspense, and rightly so. Yes I will admit some of his movies aren’t the best ever, but they’re mostly pretty damn good. In addition to this impressive resume, he’s written the score/soundtrack for virtually all of his movies, as well as performed it!!! Incredibly impressive if you ask me, and that gets my respect.  You can visit his official page and check him out.

Great Movie Fight Scenes

  1. "They Live" - This is a great movie fight scene.  It has Nada (Roddy Piper (the wrestler)) fighting Frank (Keith David) in an alley.  They are just kicking the living snot out of each other for about 10 minutes or so.

  2. "Rapid Fire" - If you like good karate fight scenes, the final scene in this movie kicks ass.  The movie actually has some really good fight scenes all through it, but the final one is really good.  It stars Brandon Lee (Bruce Lee's son).

  3. "Lethal Weapon" - The fight scene at the end of the movie with Mr. Joshua (Gary Busey) and Riggs (Mel Gibson).  This is a really good fight scene and it even includes a broken fire hydrant providing rain-like conditions.
  4. "The Matrix"- Again, this movie has some great fight scene all through the movie.  It was cutting-edge for fighting special effects.  The fight scene I'd like to point out is the one where Neo/Mister Anderson (Keanu Reeves) fights Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) in the train station.

  5. "Kill Bill: Volume 2" - Both of the movies in this series have great fight scenes throughout each movie.  The one in particular that I liked was the one where Beatrix Kiddo (Uma Thurman) fights Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah).  I know it's two women but it's a kick-ass fight scene with lots of great choreography.
  6. "Spider-Man 2" - The fight scene in this movie to pay attention to is the one where Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) and Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) are falling down the side of a building and exchanging punches and blows.  Great CGI!

  7. "Point Break" - This isn't technically a fight scene, but the scene where Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) chases Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) through the streets of Los Angeles is amazing.

Really Bad Movies

I guess if I'm going to recommend some good movies, I'd better list some bad movies that you should avoid at all costs.

Armageddon

Battlefield Earth

The Black Dahlia

Exorcist II: The Heretic

Exorcist: The Beginning

Howard the Duck

Maximum Overdrive

Nightbreed

Nothing But Trouble

The People Under the Stairs
