I'll admit I'm a technology
junky. From my computer to my DVD player, etc.
Computers and Software
In case you didn't know
it, Firefox is safer and faster than Internet Explorer 6. You won't
hear anyone using Firefox have Spyware hijack their machine because
it's impossible with Firefox. Click the image to download and try it
out.

I am apart of some software mailing lists.
If you need advice on one of these topics, join these mailing lists to
get some advice.
Lists I own:
- SysAdminDiscussion
- To discuss general help with anything related to IT infrastructure
issue (Windows, Linux, Solaris, networking, etc.).
Feel free to join these lists and ask away!
Lists I'm a member of that I recommend for good advice:
My sleep
utility - I wrote this program in Visual C++. I
found that there was no real sleep programs in Windows without having
to either write your own or get the Microsoft Resource Kit, so I
obviously wrote my own. Feel free to download it.
It takes milliseconds as an argument, like so:
sleep 800
Sleeps for 800 milliseconds
sleep 2500
Sleeps for 2.5 seconds

Wireless/Cellular
Verizon Wireless has started disallowing the use of
custom ringtones. See
more information here.
If you use Verizon Wireless, I have put together a
little "Verizon Wireless Cheat Sheet" of stuff. There are a
ton of these, but this is all I can think of at this time.
Feel free to contact me
and send me others. These are all air-time free.
NOTE: I assume no responsibility for
any damage you cause to your phone. You use these on your
own. If you don't know what any of this means, contact
Verizon Wireless (*611) customer service and do not blindly dial these
without knowing the consequences.
- #BAL - Account balance
- #MIN - Minutes used
- #PMT - Pay your bill
- #DATA - Sends a text message of the current amount
of text messages and bytes of data used during this billing period.
- *228 Update PRL and program phone
- Option 1 will program your phone. Use
with caution!
- Option 2 will update your PRL (roaming
capabilities).
- *22891 Update PRL
- This will perform the exact same thing as
dialing *228 and then selecting 2 to update your PRL (roaming
capabilities). It's just a faster way of doing it.
